The Talking Trash Oddessy:
Talking Trash returned after a ten year absence on Jan 4th, 2006. With something familiar (Original host
Mark Trombley) and something new (Virgin host Jason Piche). Here's how this all came about.
Mark was a Kraft Foods vendor. He supplied local stores with all the products they need from Kraft, Nabisco,
and their many other fine labels. While filling the local Wal-Mart he and Jason became acquainted in early September of '05. Mark
showed Jason his DVD of "The Best of Talking Trash" the Cable Access show he did from '92-'95. After seeing this Jason became
excited to try such a venture. Mark and he discussed the return of Talking Trash and Jan 4th. 2006 was its maiden voyage.
For show #3 Mark brought in old show friend, Howie Mansfield, to answer phones and keep order in the booth.
Aside from those duties and acting as "god" over the loudspeaker, Howie also co-hosted when Mark had other places to be.
Shortly before show #11 Mark declared that his fatherly duties had to come first and he walked away until
the summer was over. That same day Howie announced he would be moving to Buffalo. This left the show with a co-hosting,
and phone call answering/voice of god issue. That brought on the Great Co-Host Search!
My Dad, Bernie "Pops" Piche, became the new call screener/camera switcher out back. He also chimes in
from out back and makes occasional co-hosting spots.
I brought in a bunch of different guest Co-Hosts with Aaron Stata emerging as the regular. He was slated
to join Mark and I upon Mark's return in the Fall. However Mark again decided his family came first, and his time was limited.
Thus he retired from Talking Trash. Aaron fit the bill until he found new work.. leaving another regular co-host up in the
air.
Added to the mix in November '06 was Kyle Goyet. I've known Kyle for awhile because of my frendship with
his brother, Josh. Kyle shares a passion for sports, and making outrageous claims, so he fits in on the show very well.
Also having another regular co-host means more effort can be put into making Talking Trash one of the best shows on Channel
15 (Even though we're already pretty sure that it is!).
At the end of May '07 (Show #66) a bunch of new stuff went down with the show. Along with Matt Goudey,
I produced a commercial for the show to air on the VCAM channel. Also the new graphics for the show designed again by Matt and
I debuted including a new entry for the show! "Pops" is pretty much a full-blown producer out back now thanks to Matt and
he does a great job switching cameras and getting the show on and off the air. Then Kyle's brother, Josh Goyet, decided to
become a regular part of the show making us a three man team. As if that all weren't enough the show made it's debut on YouTube
so now everyone in the world can enjoy Talking Trash!
In late September of 2007 Jeff Botas, who is now a fixture out back running the show, set us up with UStream.tv.
Via this site our show now airs LIVE all around the world! Jeff has taken over all the duties out back and that has allowed
my Dad to move into the studio where he runs the camera and adds his voice to the show.
In October through November '07 our show really started to blow up. Along with Vin who joined our staff
as a camera person we also had excellent continued efforts by Matt and Jeff. Their efforts include; LIVE shows online, archives
at Blip.TV, podcasts at iTunes, generally putting the show on the air. However, the most unique addition was the sound board
which allows for good comedy and overall fun. Just a matter of time before this show gets picked up for network TV right?
Ha ha.. yeah right.
In late March
Pich' announced his move to Milwaukee for the end of May. That meant the show would be no more. In the beginning of May
Pich's plan changed, but ending the show still was part of the plan. The final episode aired May 14th, 2008 and was an hour
long. Co-Hosting the finale were Pich', Kyle Goyet, Bernie Piche, and Justin St. Louis. Behind the scenes Jeff Botas, Vin,
and Becky Gollin were key to making the show get on the air in a stellar fashion. Bernie and Jason set a world-record for
the first LIVE televised Stiga Hockey game at the end of the program which they played as they went off the air. Bernie won
the contest 3-1 as the game finished in the "Extra Innings" portion online.
